Sapota (Chikoo)
Sapota is a delicious tropical fruit that belongs to the Sapotaceae family that goes with the scientific name Manilkara zopata. It is native to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean island. Sapota is clad by other names i.e. chikoo. The fruit is 4-8 cm in diameter, has a fuzzy skin with very sweet earthy-brown flesh. It has a unique malty flavour which can be also used in smoothies, fruit salads, in sauces, syrups, pie and in a batter of pancakes or muffins.
